Your life is a coop

There is this principle that pushes me towards being the best version of myself each day: Imagine that today you happened to spawn into this body. Some other player was here yesterday and yet another player will use it tomorrow. It is your responsibility to make sure that the next person who spawns into this shell has a better experience than you do.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't have fun, but don't forget to share the fun with the person who will play tomorrow. If today you eat unhealthy, then the next player will have fewer hit points. If you make a mess in your room, then the next player will either have to spend time cleaning it up or have less space to do something useful.

On the other hand if today you start reading (or writing) a book you always wanted to finish, then the tomorrow's user will have to do less work to achieve the goal.

You can stretch that idea further into the Golden Rule territory and imagine that tomorrow you will spawn into a body of someone you will interact with today and prepare for the interaction from that viewpoint. Will you make progress on something together or will you throw the game?

I think this idea works for me because for whatever reason I generally feel more obliged to other bodies then to the one writing this at the moment and this idea makes me see that there is really no difference.

This concept helps me in deciding how to plan my day and I encourage you to try it on and see if it fits for you as well.
